Shea Hillenbrand Was Kinda' Bad
So, you all remember that Miguel Tejada trade? Remember when Miggy got off to that scorching start in Houston and some people were saying he should have been playing shortstop for the O's instead of Luis Hernandez? Well - funny thing - Miguel Tejada has walked 21 times this year, and he has grounded into 21 double plays. Going back the last few years, I only found one non-catcher for whom that was the case; Shea Hillenbrand. Oh, and Tejada is also hitting .283/.317/.421 with 12 HR, while Luke Scott is at .273/.357/.519 with 21 HR. And Houston threw in four more players and around 12 million bucks. Thanks Ed Wade!

He's Actually The Composer, Born 1869
It has been rumored for some time, but the news is officially out there. Miguel Tejada isn't 31 years old - he's actually 33. Tejada knocked a couple of years off of his birth date in an effort to get signed when he was a kid in the Dominican Republic. It makes even more sense that his range at short (though not as much as some claim) and his bat are beginning to slip. So, to sum up some news from today: Andy MacPhail trades Tejada before he is found to be a steroid user and two years older than expected, and Bedard before his hip injury potentially becomes a major issue. That's what I call a job well done.
