In the M's 83rd game of the year, Bloomquist came to the plate in the bottom of the ninth with a runner on second and the score tied. He proceeded to hit a ball into the gap (it would have been a sure double), but the runner scored before WFB reached second (thus winning the game) and Willie was only credited with a single. Gotta love those Mariners.

Hey, A Record's A Record
So, the Mariners have been giving a fair number of at bats to utility man, Willie Bloomquist this season, despite him not being particularly good at the whole "baseball" thing. WFB, as he is sometimes called by the M's faithful, is hitting a Ruthian 256 / 366 / 256 this year. That's not a typo - his SLG is equal to his BA. Bloomquist doesn't have an extra-base hit this year; in fact, he hasn't had one in 81 straight games now.
