In an effort to re-energize the slumping offense, Dave Trembley changed the line-up around, moving Nick Markakis into the #2 hole and Kevin Millar down. Nick responded with a 2-4 day with a homer and a double, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Millar only went 0-3 with a walk, but the 4 runs the O's put up were enough as Jeremy Guthrie had his best start of the year. Guthrie picked up his first win, going 7 innings and striking out 6, while giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks. He also didn't give up any of the home runs that have plagued him all year.
Bradford and Walker matched up to pitch the eighth, and it was George Sherrill time in the ninth again. Sherrill continued his rough season (peripherals wise) giving up a run on two hits and a walk. He didn't strike out a batter, and has a 4.97 ERA with a 10:8 K to walk ratio in 12.2 IP now. The O's had a 4-2 lead though, so Sherrill picked up his 10th save in 11 chances.
It was nice to see the team come back from consecutive losses to the Rays to beat the first place Angels. With Steve Trachesl pitching the next game against LA, it will probably be up to Daniel Cabrera to win the series.
