This is a little late, but congratulations to Chipper Jones on hitting his 400th career home run. He is really solidifying his Hall of Fame case with a very impressive batting line of 421 / 504 / 671 with 14 HR so far this year. I really doubt that Larry will be able to hit .400, but if he does (and the Braves stay in contention) then he is almost assured of another MVP award. Jones has recently stated that he wants to finish his career in Atlanta and, along with Maddux, Smoltz, and Glavine, symbolizes the Braves' dominance in the 90's and early 00's. There is no reason to think he can't hit at a high level for a while longer, and so he may go down as one of the very best third-basemen of all time. I mean jeez, he's a 310 / 407/ 550 career hitter - that's impressive in any era.
BaseballMusings has an ongoing graph that tracks Chipper's chances in his quest for .400. While it may not seem like much, those probabilities are actually relatively good.
