The winning run actually scored on a fielding error by the usually reliable John McDonald. This was the first game with new Jays manager Cito Gaston at the helm - he took over after John Gibbons was fired. The loss drops Toronto to 35-40, in what has been a disappointing season for the major's lone Canadian team.
